History
The Capital City Marching Festival began in 1993 and has been hosted by several Austin-area high schools throughout its history. Since 2001, the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) has played an active role as host or co-host, proudly continuing CapCity’s mission to showcase the talent, hard work, and creativity of student musicians from across Central Texas.
At the heart of CapCity is the belief that all high school bands deserve opportunities to perform, connect, and grow. We’re honored to welcome some of the most passionate and talented marching bands in the state, and to celebrate the effort and commitment put forth by thousands of students, directors, and families.
Beyond the music and the shows, CapCity is about community. It’s about the shared energy, camaraderie, and spirit that make the marching arts such a powerful experience. We hope your memories of CapCity stay with you throughout your musical journey—and beyond.
Who We Are
LASA is a magnet high school in Austin that is ranked as one of the best high schools in the nation. The LASA Raptor Band Boosters is a parent-led volunteer organization that serves as the financial arm of the band and colorguard. It also provides program support to band leadership and student members, and the Boosters strives to make the program strong so that students can grow as musicians, community members, and friends. The LASA Raptor Band Boosters have been granted not-for-profit status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code.
